DRAFT, not legal advice. Written in plain English from what the app does on 2026-10-09, for the owner and a lawyer to review. Every [TODO: ...] is a fact only the owner can supply or a point for a lawyer to decide. Remove this banner and the appendix before publishing. Keep this text consistent with the Privacy Policy and with the in-app consent screens.

By creating an account or using TavernQuill (the "app"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Who can use the app
•
You must be 13 or older. The app is not for children under 13.
•
If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most places), you need a parent or guardian's permission to use the app, and a parent or guardian must make any subscription purchase.
•
You must give us a real email address you can read, and keep your account secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
2. What the app does
TavernQuill helps game masters (GMs) of tabletop role-playing games. You record a session, and the app turns the recording into a transcript, a recap, a campaign wiki and answers to your questions. To do that, it sends your audio to a transcription service (Deepgram) and your transcript text to an AI service (Anthropic, the maker of Claude). The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent, and the app asks for your agreement before any audio leaves your phone.
3. Recording consent is your job
•
Laws about recording conversations differ by place, and many require everyone's permission. You, the GM, are responsible for getting the permission of everyone at the table, including anyone joining by voice or video, before you record. The app reminds you and asks you to confirm each session, but we cannot check that you did.
•
If anyone says no, do not record.
•
Do not use the app to record anyone secretly or to record conversations that are not part of your game.
•
Your players do not have accounts. You are responsible for how you use their names and what you share about them.
4. Your content
•
You own your content: your recordings, transcripts, notes, recaps, wiki entries, questions and anything you type in.
•
You give us a limited licence to store, copy and process that content, and to send it to our service providers, only so we can run the app for you (make your transcript, recap, wiki and answers, show it to you, and make the share links and Discord posts you ask for). We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it. [TODO: confirm against Deepgram's and Anthropic's account terms before publishing this sentence.]
•
If you share a recap by link or post it to Discord, anyone with that link or in that channel can read it. You decide what to share. Player names are removed from shared pages on a best-effort basis; read the preview first.
•
Game rules text the app generates uses the freely licensed System Reference Document. Game and publisher names, and character and setting names from published games, belong to their owners. The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the app to:
•
break the law, or record or share anything you have no right to record or share;
•
upload content that is unlawful, that targets or harasses people, or that sexualises minors;
•
try to break, probe, overload or get around the app's limits or security, or use it to build a competing service;
•
share your account, or resell access to the app.
We may suspend or end an account that breaks these rules, after warning you where that is practical.
6. AI output can be wrong
Transcripts, recaps, wiki entries and answers are written by automated systems. They can miss things, mishear names, mix up speakers or invent details. Check anything that matters before you rely on it or share it. They are meant for your game table, not for legal, medical or other professional use.
7. Subscriptions
•
Scribe plan (free): your first 4 hours of recording are free (a lifetime allowance, not monthly), with 20 Ask questions per month, and recordings are kept for 2 days after processing.
•
Scribe Pro subscription: US$14.99 per month or US$149.99 per year, charged in your local currency and price as shown on the subscription screen before you buy. It includes 20 hours of recording per month and 150 Ask questions per month, and keeps your audio for 30 days after processing. Transcripts, recaps and the wiki are kept either way until you delete them. [TODO: confirm the prices and allowances match the App Store Connect products at launch.]
•
Billing: subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. [TODO: Google Play wording if an Android release is planned.]
•
Auto-renewal: a subscription renews automatically, for the same period and at the price shown on the subscription screen, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
•
Cancel or manage: open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone (or the App Store app) and choose Scribe Pro. Deleting the app or your TavernQuill account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your Apple account settings first.
•
Refunds: Apple handles all payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, use Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com) or contact Apple Support. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through Apple.
•
Free trial: if a free trial is offered, any unused part ends when you buy a subscription.
•
Limits and changes: plan allowances and prices are shown in the app. We may change them with notice in the app, and a price change takes effect at your next renewal after you have been told and (where Apple requires it) agreed. The server decides what your plan allows; the app only displays it.
•
Restore: if you subscribed on this Apple Account before, use "Restore purchases" on the subscription screen.
8. Apple's standard terms
If you get the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA", at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) applies in addition to these Terms and is part of this agreement, except where these Terms are stricter or add to it. In short, as the Standard EULA says: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app, its maintenance and support, warranties, or claims about it; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. [TODO: lawyer to confirm the incorporation wording and whether to use a custom EULA instead.]
9. Ending your account
•
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account > Delete account). That permanently deletes your profile, campaigns, sessions, transcripts, recaps, wiki, Ask history, share links, Discord connection and stored audio, as the Privacy Policy describes. It cannot be undone, and it does not cancel an Apple subscription (see section 7).
•
We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if the law requires it. If we end your account without a reason related to your conduct, we will give you a chance to export or save your content where we reasonably can.
10. Disclaimers and limits
•
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your recordings will always upload or process. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
•
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost recordings or data, or lost profits. Our total liability to you for anything related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or [TODO: amount] if you paid nothing. [TODO: lawyer to review this paragraph.]
•
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, delete your account.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [TODO: state/country]. Disputes are decided in the courts of [TODO: place], except where your local consumer law gives you the right to go elsewhere. [TODO: lawyer to advise on arbitration, class-action wording and jurisdiction.]
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms: [TODO: support email].
